Serge Pérathoner

Jannick Top is the bass player and co-founder of the legendary MAGMA band, and soon becomes French pop artist Michel Berger’s main recording producer & arranger.

Serge Perathoner begins his career along side french artist Yves Simon with whom he composes the soundtrack for the film Diabolo Menthe in 1977.


Further to which he becomes co-founder of the group Blue Rose with artist David Rose. Jannick and Serge often cross paths in various Parisian studios but only truly meet on the stage of the Zenith in Paris where they accompany french singer France Gall. The two soon decide to work together and join forces in their mutual careers.
They are both considered two of the best session players in France but are more often hired for their production talents as well as arrangers and musical directors. They have thus produced albums for artists such as Johnny Hallyday, Céline Dion, France Gall and Jacques Dutronc... But their main collaboration remains with Michel Berger with whom they arrange and direct the music for his famous rock operas : Starmania (versions 88 and 93) and the Legend of Jimmy (1991). More recently, lysricist Luc Plamondon and composer Richard Cocciante call upon them to arrange and direct the recordings of what has since become the most successful musical in France : Notre Dame de Paris.
Serge and Jannick have also successfully composed soundtracks for various television programmes (USHUAÏA, OKAVANGO), jingles and adverts, television series (NAVARRO, GROUPE NUIT, DA COSTA), ballets (Roland Petit’s national ballet corp) and film soundtracks. In 1984 they compose a soundtrack for director Pierre Jolivet, Strictement Personnel, the first of a series of compositions for each of his films to date.
