Dakota Red
Dakota Red was formed December 1998. Originally 5-piece line-up, with Bill Perry (vocal and guitar), Robin Chambers (lead guitar), Mick Austin (drums), Eddie Giacobbe (bass) and John Patience (sax). They were joined the following year by Andrew Marlow (keyboards). An eclectic mixture of funk, rock, R&B and jazz, Dakota Red perfom original material, composed by Bill Perry. Bill's song writing talents has been developed on the back of his considerable experience in writing and recording music. He past work has seen him record with top London session musicians and he spent 7 years working and touring in USA, before returning to the UK and playing in Jumpworld, a Northampton-based, highly-rated, jazz funk ensemble.

Dakota Red's debut album 'Signs of Life' was recorded at Premier and Moontracks studios using the 6-piece line-up. Shortly after the recordings, John Patience left Dakota Red and Colin Giles (sax) and Rob Butler (trombone) provided the replacement brass component. Robin, Mick, Colin and Andrew were all former members of Riverdogs and the hugely successful Soul Patrol, which also included John and Rob.

Robin, Eddie, Mick and John Patience were also former members of 32/20 who made their album under the formidable guidance of top producer Mike Vernon (Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, etc). Eddie also plays bass for Ambush.

In all, the combined experience and talent of Dakota Red brings together thought-provoking lyrics, engaging melodies, and high-quality musicianship; the like of which is rare in today's local music scene. Their debut album, Signs of Life, produced by keyboardist Andrew Marlow, who owns the Moontracks label, is but the first slice of Dakota Red's ever growing repertoire of original music. Very much a 'live' band, Dakota Red have started to build their own following of keen, musically-discerning fans. Join them.
