| SOME REVIEWS Brandnewmwusic.com/Music365.com 'Artist of the Week' October 9 2000 We Say: Whats Wrong with That sees Thompson "turning into my mother "with intelligent observations and poppy harmonies reminiscent of the Bangles. With Charlie Thompson weaves a touching tale of heartbreak. An undeniably captivating voice and an ability to move effortlessly from poppy synth-aided tunes, to stripped back piano ballads. You'll Like her if.....What youre after is toe-tapping folk from an insightful singer songwriter. The Rickie Lee Jones-style vocals double the pleasure! Heard.com.au LINDSEY THOMPSON - ROOM IN A BASEMENT This is a great collection of songs from Lindsey Thompson, whose voice is her biggest asset & one that she exploits to it's fullest on a few songs here. The style is generally an electronically driven feel, running over the top of both Lindsey & a variety of instruments, with the exception of one track in particular. Singing at her absolute best here is the song in question, called "Charlie", which is a beautifully sparse song, with Lindsey performing her vocals over a haunting piano backing & she showcases her vocal talents to the utmost here, demonstrating a fairly vast range. Also standing out are the title track, "I Say Nothing", the stunning "Pure White Satin" & "Common Knowledge". There aren't too many reference points, but Kate Bush is possibly one of the best comparisons on this occasion, Lindsey though, stamping her own style on the entire album. An excellent female talent is at hand. Its Hats off time for the voice like Lindseys. She is definitely above her songs (a bit tired). Born Performer, natural on stage Lindsey can fly high. MUSIC INDUSTRY CONNECTIONS A&R/ Unsigned Band Magazine Reviewd by Melee lindsey thompson lindseys five track demo showcases her vocal ability to perfection. A cross between Beverly Craven and Celine Dion, lindsey has a voice to die for. The second track Whats Wrong With That is particularly complimentary to her voice. Charlie is a sad goodbye song which invokes the old lump in the throat syndrome. In contrast to Charlie Pure White Satin has a funky up tempo vibe again with a relationship theme which seems to run through out lindseys songs. This is an area which lyrically she explores well and delivers convincingly. Email: info@dorm.co.uk The Kashmir Klub (online review) A fairly new talent to grace the by-now rather threadbare Kashmir rug (we wish!) is lindsey thompson, another in the seemingly endless line of great singers who pitch up here and blow us all away. lindsey has a huge voice, with a lot of horsepower in reserve. Room In A Basement could not have been more appropriate given the venue; Pure White Satin boasted an unusual bass note piano intro, one of a number of felicitous touches that betray the songwriting nouse behind lindsey's tunes. There were record company people around this evening checking lindsey out, and no wonder. Azeem for Annabels Diary Whats On Birmingham lindsey thompson Ronnie Scotts (bar). Acoustic set by the West Brom singer-songwriter, a spine-shivering melting of Tori, Tzuke and Joni on future modern woman classics like Charlie and Whats Wrong With That. Mike Davis The Kashmir Klub - (Online Review) lindsey thompson is a wonderful singer; powerful, sensitive, inspiring; with amazing highs and lows and mercurial ornamentations; rapid resonances and smokey undertones. Accompanied by Solomon on acoustic, Neil on bass and Rob (her co-writer) on piano, she gave us "Charlie" (not a modern man who is "only happy when he's treading on her dreams"), the neo-grand-operatic "Pure White Satin", the very funny "Whats Wrong With That" and "I say nothing" - ....a consummate performer. Roberta Smith for Annabels Diary The Kashmir Klub - (online review) lindsey thompson takes the stage with bass player Neil who put on a powerful performance last night at the Kashmir Klub. Tabitha Capaldi BMI The Tip Sheet ...equally brilliant was lindsey thompson's Kashmir debut on Thursday.
