Born in Hollywood, Richard Niles has worked in London since 1975 as a Producer, Arranger and Composer with some of the world's most creative and successful artists
in pop - Ray Charles, Paul McCartney, Cher, Tina Turner, Tears For Fears, Pet Shop Boys, Boyzone, Grace Jones, Was (Not Was),
classical -Montserrat Caballe, Kiri Te Kanawa,
R&B: James Brown, Joe Cocker, Deniece Williams, Hamish Stuart,
and jazz - Pat Metheny, Nelson Rangell, Guy Barker, Danny Gottlieb, Chris Hunter, Jim Mullen and the BBC Big Band.

He has written music forTV commercials and film. A journalist for Making Music, Richard writes and presents his series The New Jazz Standards on BBC Radio2 which has been nominated for a Sony Award. Richard's first album "Santa Rita" is also available from Black Box Records BBJ1005.
